HOMA-IR Calculator
HOMA-IR stands for Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance. It’s a method developed to assess insulin resistance based on fasting blood glucose and insulin levels.
It was first invented in the 80s. It’s a simple and non-invasive way to evaluate how well the body responds to insulin.
Also, Insulin resistance is often a precursor to serious health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic syndrome.
Your health matters and early action is key. This HOMA-IR calculator helps you check your insulin resistance level early on.
Insulin resistance is linked to diabetes and other health issues, so this calculator is designed to measure your accurate insulin resistance levels.
How To Use Our HOMA-IR Calculator
To start with the HOMA-IR calculator, enter your accurate Fasting Plasma Glucose in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) levels. Then, fill in your Fasting Insulin range in milliunits per liter(mU/L).
I’ve included a HOMA-IR level to help you understand the different insulin resistance factors.
Once you’ve entered all your details, click on the calculator button. The hyperinsulinemic euglycemic metabolic clamp formula will calculate the exact HOMA-IR level.
Formula
In this calculator, I’ve used a method called the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp to accurately measure your HOMA-IR, which shows your insulin resistance level.

Interpretation of HOMA-IR Levels
Once you’ve done the calculation, you can check out the below chart and get some helpful suggestions.
- Homa-Ir < 1: Indicates normal insulin sensitivity.
- Homa-Ir 1 – 1.9: Suggests early insulin resistance.
- Homa-Ir ≥ 2.9: Indicates significant insulin resistance, warranting further investigation and potential lifestyle or medical interventions.
With this calculator, my goal is to make health tracking as accessible as possible. I hope you’ll find it as helpful as I do.
